Sparkle with Spelling in First Grade!
One fun way we study our spelling words is by playing a game called Sparkle! The students stand up at their desks and the teacher says a spelling word. The first student has to say the first letter of the word, the second student says the next letter, and so on until the word is spelled. After they spell the word, the next student has to say the word and the student after them has to say SPARKLE and sit down. If they miss a letter they also have to sit down. The last one standing is the winner and receives a piece of candy! The kids really enjoy this activity and their spelling improves without them feeling like work!
