Stone Fox, Bats, and Witches in Fourth-Grade

Our fourth-grade class has been adventuring into Wild Wyoming as we read the classic Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner. This book is based on a Rocky Mountain legend and describes the life of Little Willy, who lives with his Grandpa in Wyoming. When his Grandpa gets sick, he isn't able to work on the farm and the family faces losing the farm. Little Willy is bound and determined to win the National Dogsled Race so he can win the prize money to help save the farm and his grandpa. But, he isn't the only one who wants to win the race. Willy and his dog Searchlight must win against more experienced dogsled teams, including a Native American man named Stone Fox, who has never lost a race.

Each student wrote a book report on Stone Fox, and to help decorate for our fall parties, we posted them on black paper bats, tied them on a string, and displayed them in the hallway by our classroom. We have been working diligently on our writing skills by writing a fictional narrative. Each student posted theirs on spooky witches to create a festive display.

A huge thank you to all the parents who helped make our fall party a fun success. We appreciate you!

We are also super proud of our October winners for Character Education!
