2nd Grade Students Put Their Map Reading Skills to a Test!

Today, 2nd grade students in Mrs. Jones' and Mrs Trimble's classes took a field trip to the Putnam County State Bank.
Students in 2nd Grade just finished their Maps unit and learned all about Cardinal Directions and Inter-cardinal Directions. Students had to follow these directions in order to get to their destination. (Due to it being so windy we didn't take our paper copies of our maps. We were afraid they would blow away!)

Once we got to the bank we were greeted by Mrs. Taren Lewis and Abbie! They split us into two groups and we were able to tour the bank! The students' favorite was getting to go into the vault and seeing how the "tubes" work in order for people in the drive through to get their money Into the bank!
After we toured the bank we went down to the basement for a snack and drink that the bank was generous to provide for us! Each student also received a pencil, crayons, and a coloring packet! The teachers received a very nice PCSB insulated, zippered bag!! Before we departed the bank to return to school, each students name was put in a drawing for a piggy bank! Robert B. And Abbie S. were drawn from Mrs. Jones' class and Stella S. and Easton H. were drawn from Mrs. Trimble's class!!

A big thank you goes out to the Putnam County State Bank, Mrs. Lewis, and Abbie for allowing us to visit, the tour, snacks, gifts, banks, and reading us a story about the importance of saving!!

Your generosity and hospitality is greatly appreciated!
