Alice Heidenwith: Teacher Spotlight

Help us celebrate our next Teacher Spotlight, Mrs. Alice Heidenwith!

Alice is one of our Title Teachers at Putnam County Elementary. What is a Title teacher? Title I teachers work with students who might struggle academically, providing them with extra support in reading, language skills, and math.

This is Mrs. Heidenwith's 22nd year in teaching, and 13th year at Putnam County R-I.

Alice is married to Cody Heidenwith, a 1995 Putnam County High School graduate, and they have 2 sons. Their son Calvin is a high school teacher and coach for us, and their son Zach is a Senior at PCHS. Alice told us, "I enjoy being their mom and biggest supporter. My favorite thing to do is follow them around and watch them compete, coach, or referee. It doesn't matter the sport. I also enjoy traveling and reading. I have so many books, I cannot pick just one favorite. One of my favorite places to visit is the beach! I would live on the beach if my family agreed to go with me! An interesting fact about me... I am a Navy brat and moved a lot as a kid. One of my favorite places to live was Hawaii. We were stationed over there for 4 years."

We asked Alice what inspired her to pursue a career in education. She said, "I had an amazing history teacher my first year in college. I enjoyed her class so much that I decided to explore teaching. I took a few education classes and I was hooked! I wanted to help children get as excited about learning as I am!"

Mrs. Heidenwith told us her favorite thing about being part of the PCR-I team: "I love the people I work with and the students at Putnam County. We have the best community that goes above and beyond to support each other."

Help us thank and celebrate Mrs. Alice Heidenwith!
