Money Talk and Sundae’s
In third grade, after MAP testing, we started learning how to add and subtract with dollars and cents. Students used a Wendy's menu to practice ordering items to figure out their total cost and how much change they would get back. At this point, students were given an ice cream sundae menu and $6 fake dollars to spend. They were challenged to create a Google slideshow that displayed how they wanted their sundae built, while showing a new total for each item they added. In the end, they had to figure out how much change, if any, they would get in return. Then they presented their slideshow to me while I created their sundae. What a tasty treat!
