FFA Members Compete in Area Proficiency Awards

Webb Wins Area Sheep Proficiency Award

The Area III FFA Proficiency Awards selections were held on February 24th, 2021 in Macon, Missouri. Two members of the Putnam County FFA completed applications to be judged against other applicants from the Area III FFA Association.  There are 50 proficiency award areas in which students can apply.  Proficiency awards are based on each student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP).   SAE programs are the student’s project or job outside of the school setting.  SAE programs are either placement (working for someone), or entrepreneurship in nature.  The applications and the student’s record book are reviewed by area agriculture instructors and placed accordingly after being scored.

The following FFA members had applications:   Justin Webb, 1st place in Sheep Production Entrepreneurship.  Vanessa Bondy, 3rd place in  Vegetable Production Entrepreneurship.  Justin Webb’s application will advance to the state and be judged to determine the state winner.  Justin will also receive a plaque at the State Convention held in Sedalia on May 1st.  All applications that are in the top three will receive a certificate at the Area banquet and all will be recognized with a proficiency medal at the local Putnam County FFA Chapter banquet in May.
