Learning about Income!
Launch the media gallery 1 player2nd Grade students have been working on an economics unit. They are learning about goods, services, products, consumers, needs, wants, producers, supply, demand, and income. Currently, each student is earning an income in class. This income is based on compliments from other teachers, being responsible in the hallways, bathrooms, and in the classroom. Also, each student has the opportunity to earn income by helping others when needed without being asked to do it. Some students have asked why I cannot just put them to work.
Next Friday, students will have the opportunity to spend their income from our classroom "store." There will be different items for them to choose from such as candy, play dough, and little toys. There will also be items that are classified as needs, such as hairbrushes, hair ties, and small food items.
