Angie O'Reilly: Teacher Spotlight

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and also Mrs. O'Reilly's birthday! February is also #loveteaching month. Angie O'Reilly has wanted to be a teacher since she entered Kindergarten as a little girl. She says, "it's the only thing I've ever wanted to do." She loves teaching and it shows.

Mrs. O'Reilly graduated from Putnam County High School in 1987. She then attended Truman State University where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and her Master's of Arts in Education. Mrs. O'Reilly originally intended to leave home and teach in other areas around the Columbia area, but after getting engaged to Roger, decided to make their home in Putnam County.

This is Mrs. O'Reilly's 29th year in education and 28 of those years at Putnam County. Many thanks to Mrs. O'Reilly for being one of our #HomeGrownHeroes!

Here is what a staff member had to say about Mrs. O'Reilly: "Mrs. O'Reilly can often be seen going above and beyond to ensure the success of her students. She even spent a LARGE part of her summer helping with credit recovery (students needing extra help to move them forward after failing a class). I am not sure she had much of a summer. Way to set the bar high, Mrs. O'Reilly!"

When Mrs. O'Reilly is not at school, she enjoys spending time with family. She and Roger have four children, Sydney, Tori, Trey, and Abbie, and are grandparents to Aria.

Happy birthday month, Mrs. O'Reilly! Thank you for giving your heart to education!
