Middle School Principal Update: October 2022

Dear Putnam County R-I families,

I am writing this morning to provide an update on the position of Middle School Principal.

At the October 2022 Board of Education Meeting, the resignation of Mr. Garber, Middle School Principal and Athletic Director, was accepted. Mr. Garber served our district for many years, teaching, coaching, leading, but most of all serving with a smile. He wishes our students and staff much success and we will continue to see him at district events.

The position of MS Principal and Athletic Director will be posted in early 2023. In the meantime, Mrs. Barb Hodges will continue to serve as Middle School Principal for the remainder of the school year. 

Mrs. Hodges has been certified to teach in the state of Missouri since 1984. She has worked for PCR-I since that time. She started as a Math/Computer Science teacher, moved on to High School Counselor, and then became Middle School Principal in July 2004. Mrs. Hodges served in the role of Middle School Principal until 2012 when she moved to the role of Special Education Director. Mrs. Hodges retired from being a full-time employee at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.  Since her retirement, she has continued to serve the District part-time in the Special Education/School Psychologist role.

We want to thank Mr. Garber for his years of service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Many thanks to Mrs. Hodges for stepping out of retirement one more year.
