Claire Tipton: PCHS Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight

Senior Spotlight time! Help us congratulate, Miss Claire Tipton!

Claire is the daughter of Allen and Wendy Tipton.

Her favorite quote is, "Progress is impossible without change.”

Claire has been involved in DECA, FBLA, Interact, SADD, and NHS. She is currently the NHS secretary and DECA vice president of recruitment. Claire has played softball and basketball all four years of high school and has received Conference, District, Regional, Press, and Academic awards in softball and basketball every year. She tells us, "An award I feel the most accomplished of is receiving the honor of being a 1st team All-State pitcher. As well as joining the 1000 point club this year."

Her advice to incoming freshmen: "Be involved in anything that sparks your interest. If you don’t, you’ll regret it."

Claire plans to attend Indian Hills after graduation to continue her academic and athletic career. In 5-10 years, she says, "I see myself living in Putnam County, working as an Occupational Therapist, and potentially getting married and starting a family of my own."

We asked Claire to tell us what teacher or staff member at Putnam County has had the biggest impact on her and why. Claire said, "Ms. Errante. She was a teacher who loved everyone and always had a smile on her face. I always looked forward to going to her class because she was truly invested in her students both academically and personally. I could always tell she truly cared about us and wanted us to succeed. She was never too busy for any student and was always there to lend a helping hand when it was needed. While English isn’t my favorite subject and never has been, I always looked forward to it with her as my teacher!"

Claire tells us "I can’t think of a specific funny memory from high school, but Mrs. Owings' class never fails to make me laugh on a daily basis. My classmates are my best friends and Mrs. Owings is a teacher I’ve always loved to be around."

Tell us about your favorite class: "My favorite class at PC has always been math. While some may find it weird, I could do math for fun. It’s a class I truly enjoy learning in and Mr. Fleshman always makes his classroom a fun environment to learn in."

Grab the tissues, Chloe. Claire told us, "My most memorable high school moment was getting to attend PCHS with my sister. While that may not be a specific moment, it was a span of time that I really enjoyed. Seeing her in the hallways was always a comforting factor for me, especially since it was my first two years of high school."

Claire had one more thing to add. "I’d like to thank all of my teachers that I have had throughout my time at PC. All of them have made positive impacts on my life and have helped to shape me into the woman I am today. I will always cherish the years spent going to school at Putnam with great friends, staff, and an amazing, supportive community."

Claire, we are #PutnamProud of you and wish you all the best in your future endeavors! Congratulations!
