Have you ever thought about a world where everything was the same? A world where there was no color or a world where there was no LOVE? In The Giver, by Lois Lowry, everyone is the same. There is no color. And people cannot feel what love is like.
Sixth graders finished reading The Giver last week. After completing the book, then we enjoyed watching the movie The Giver. We finished the movie and now students are working on a compare and contrast essay. Students will work on comparing and contrasting connections between the book to the movie.
It will be interesting to see their thoughts on a world where everyone was the same and if they enjoyed the book more than the movie. How about you? Would you want to live in a world where everyone was the same?
