Sewing, Baking, and Competition: FACS Class September 2021.

Putnam County Family and Consumer Science classes have been creating great things already in class. The Apparel and Textiles class made dresses for our mannequins out of toilet paper and tin foil.  The Nutrition and Wellness classes all made items for the Home Economics competition at the Putnam County Fair.

Students were tasked with the job of searching for a recipe that fit the criteria. They had one day in the lab to try out their recipe and one day in the lab to make the final product. The students improved so much from the first recipe to the second recipe!

Items were entered into the fair and we had two groups receive first place, five groups receive second place and three groups receive third place.

Middle school students are learning kitchen safety and have made biscuit pizzas. Personal finance is busy learning about credit and debt while Child Development is learning about the need to study children.
