Cancellation of 2020 Reunion.
The Alumni Reunion Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 reunion scheduled for September 5th. It was a reluctant decision, but all indications are that the social distancing rules caused by the coronavirus pandemic will still be in place on Labor Day weekend. As a result, the reunion could not accommodate the festive atmosphere of our annual reunions, which are always marked by many hugs and handshakes! Bummer! Quinquennial Anniversary Classes. Several of our anniversary classes, such as the 50th-anniversary class, hold additional reunions in conjunction with the all-school reunion on Labor Day weekend. Therefore, those classes will be impacted even more than other classes, and we hope that the anniversary classes will consider the possibility of virtual reunions by using Zoom or similar programs. Alumni Scholarships. Our reunions have been enhanced in the last few years by an increasing number of scholarships for PCHS graduates, who have completed two years of college. The increase in scholarships has been funded by increased donations from our alumni, and with the current economic situation, the scholarships are needed even more than in past years. Therefore, we hope that many of you will send us your donations to maintain the scholarship program for this year. A Reply Form is attached to this newsletter, and you may send your donations with the form. The basic donation requested is $25, but we hope that many of you will join the Century Club, which will honor those alumni and friends who donate $100 or more. It is a good cause, and we ask for your support! Alumni Updates and Dues. Please use the Reply Form as well to confirm your current contact information and to submit your annual dues of $10 for each alum! Our alumni association enjoys the most comprehensive alumni directory of any high school in Northern Missouri, and therefore, it is important to keep our directory up to date. It is truly a prized possession! Bigger and Better in 2021. The Alumni Reunion Committee is committed to resuming the annual UHS/PCHS reunion next year on Labor Day weekend, and we ask that you mark the September 4th date on your calendars without delay. The Omaha Smokers have already agreed to provide the BBQ luncheon meal, and the committee is committed to planning and conducting an outstanding event!
