Middle School Character Education Winners: February 2020
Congratulations to our February Middle School Character Education winners!
Our community winner exemplifying the character trait of trustworthiness is Mrs. Katie Whitney Fisher, a 1994 graduate from Putnam. Katie’s parents, Gary and Jane Whitney raised her and her siblings, Mick, Lucas, and Cora on a small farm on the east end of Putnam County. Katie attended Indian Hills Community College where she received an Associates Degree and also completed a turf and greenhouse management program. From there she worked in the horticulture industry for 15 years before beginning her own business ventures with her husband of 19 years, Stephen. Katie and Stephen have been working with foster children for the past 14 years and Katie believes this is the most rewarding and important job she has ever had. Together they have four great kids, Loralei, Corey, Isabella, and Kayden. They live on a farm where they all work together to raise and train hunting and companion dogs and improve the land for wildlife. Katie’s hobbies include gardening, collecting plants, exploring nature, spending time with her children and extended family, and having impromptu dance parties with her kids.
February students of the month received a framed certificate, a dog tag that allows them to get into PC events for free for the school year, and a box of candy. Students who receive this award have displayed outstanding behavior, a positive attitude, and have been a great role model for his or her peers. Our February students of the month are Tayla T - 6th grade, Kooper H - 7th grade, and Jude W - 8th grade.
Character education word of the month was trustworthiness. These students received a t-shirt, a concession stand voucher, and a certificate. Our February character education winners exemplifying trustworthiness are 6th grade - Sammie Jo B, 8th grade - Trace H, and 7th grade - Gretchen D.
The following students have shown a good attitude in the classroom and among their peers. They received 2-10 point bonus coupons with their certificate. Thank you for being a great example for everyone at Putnam County R-1. Our February good attitude winners are 6th grade - Sophia M, 7th grade - Macie H, and 8th grade - Zayda L.
