FFA Trapshoot Team Qualifies for Districts

The Putnam County FFA Trapshooting team recently completed its’ season of shooting.  This year’s team was selected with several interested members each shooting 4 rounds for score at the local range.  After this was done, the scores were added up and the top 15 shooters were ranked. Those members trying out for the team were:  A Team-Lucas, H, Gage P, Lane N, Garret M, Jacob B.  B Team- Aaron S, Grace S, Cole R, John J, Dayton D.  C Team- Jude P, Jade T, Jacob T, Alex H,  Destiny S, Ryder M, and Graydon K. 

In preparing for the Area trap shoot, members of the Putnam County squad competed in the Schuyler County FFA trap shoot at Bosco’s Gun Club in Lancaster, on Saturday, Sept 7th, 2019.  The A team shot 219 out of 250 and tied for 5th place. The B team shot 172 out of 250. Top scorer for the Putnam squad was Gage P with a 47 out of 50.   

On September 14, 2019, the team members traveled to the Macon FFA Trap shoot.  At Macon, the A team shot a 224 out of 250 and tied for 3rd place. The B team shot a 189.   Top shooters for A team were Garret Moss with a 48, Lucas H with a 47 and Gage P with a 46.   Top scores for the B team were Aaron and Grace S, both with 41.  

On September 21, 20219, the team members competed in the Green City/Milan trap shoot.  Here the A team shot a 229 out of 250 and placed second. Top scores for the A team were Gage P and Lucas H with 48 out of 50, and Jacob B with a 47.   The B team shot a 185 and top scores for the B team were Aaron and Grace S with 40.  

On Tuesday, Sept 24, 2019, the top 10 shooters for the Putnam County team shot in the annual Area FFA Trap shoot held at Bosco Gun Club in Lancaster. The top five scores for Putnam County counted for our team score which totaled 225 out of 250.   The score placed the team 5th out of 20 teams and qualified the Putnam team for the district shoot. Gage P was the top shooter for Putnam with a 49 out of 50 which qualified him for a shoot-off round to determine top individual shooter for the tournament.   Gage shot a 24 out of 25 in the shoot-off and ended up 2nd high overall shooter for the meet. Other top scores for the Putnam team at the Area shoot were: Garret M (46), Aaron S (44), Lane N (44), Lucas H (42) and Jacob B (42).
