Welcome back to a new school year. We have been busy screening students to guide us in making instructional decisions. Often in the fall, we notice students will experience the “summer slide”. It is common for children to start school off with a lower reading level and interest in reading than when they ended the school year. Here are a few tips to help get students back on track.

Encourage students to check out books from the school/ public library.

Get back into a routine of reading daily.

Be a good reading partner. Children of all ages enjoy reading with an adult.

Give your child a special reading spot.
