Putnam County Football Players Attend Northwest Missouri State University Individual Position Camp

On June 9, 2019, Putnam County had 10 football players attend the Northwest Missouri State University Individual football camp.  Seniors kicked off the day with a recruiting combine which consisted of the timing of their 40 and 20-yard speed, pro-agility drill, and measuring of their broad jump. After that was completed, they were taught individual techniques drills and skills based on their position. After techniques were taught, they were able to put those techniques into a test versus other players during 1 on 1 matchups.

The second half of the day was dedicated to the underclassmen. Underclassmen were taught various skills and multiple drills based on their position. Great emphasis was put on technique and footwork. The other emphasis was geared toward mindset and mental toughness. At the end of the technique and learning session of the camp, the underclassmen were able to put what they had learned into action. Our players competed in some 1 on 1 matchups against players from other schools and different class school levels most of which were larger classes than us.

This same day Northwest was putting on a kicking camp for football players also. Our kicker, Aaron P, attended the kicking technique portion of the camp in which he learned a few things to further advance his already impressive kicking game.

It’s great to go and compete at a high level. Attending these camps does many things for the individual player and the team. Learning, willingness to improve, hard work, and great attitudes are some of the ingredients it takes to make great players and a great team. These student-athletes enjoyed their time at Northwest being together and also making memories that will last a lifetime.

Players in attendance were:

Seniors: Gavin M, Tony B, and Richard R.

Juniors:  Colder E, Steven H, Jaxon W, and Aaron P.

Sophomores:  Zach C.

Freshman: Brayden W and Blaine P.
