All School Reunion Coming Soon

The 2019 All School Reunion promises to be one of the best, due to several new events including a Faculty Reception, the Orval Spence Memorial Alumni Art Exhibit, and a golf tournament. The reunion will be held August 30 through September 1, primarily at the PC R-I School Commons.

Katie Graves, Thelma Mullins, Marylin Carr, Doris Richardson, and Jean (Fechtling) Grogan are among the retired faculty promising to greet former students in the high school library at 10 a.m. on Saturday. All former faculty members are invited to attend. Alumni are encouraged to enter items in the art exhibit which is in memory of 1962 alum Orval Spence, an artist, photographer and art teacher. Works of art can include paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculpture, woodwork, textiles, photography, etc. and will be displayed throughout the high school commons and hallways over the weekend. Organizers Tom Keedy and Jane McDonald would also like to display the art during the month of August in the Bixler Building on the square as well as the Putnam County Fair.

After a year absence from reunion festivities, the 5k/1.5m Bubble Run/Walk will be held Saturday morning and is being organized by the PCR-I FBLA chapter. Kerry Smith Schoonover, class of 1994, is the advisor.

The Country Club is holding a 4-person best shot golf tournament Sunday and alumni are encouraged to participate. Entry fee is $80/team.

Several popular activities are returning. David and Judy Wortz Mullins, class of 1970, are once again cooking a delicious barbecued beef brisket Saturday luncheon. Their outstanding
meal is a bargain at only $12.50 (if registered by August 23). The Republican Women will provide a breakfast Saturday morning beginning at 8 a.m. as a fundraiser. Coffee and seating will be available all day in the commons. Tables and chairs with backs will be the primary seating in the commons and cafeteria-style tables will only be used for overflow. Darl and Linda Davis are putting together an entertaining and informative program that will begin directly after the luncheon. Scholarship winners will be introduced and veterans present recognized.

Activities off-site include a social Friday evening at the Alamo Motel conference room (hosted by the class of 1955), the Silverado Band performing at the Unionville Country Club Saturday night at 8 p.m. (featuring Fred Haas, class of 1972), and a 4 person best-shot golf tournament at the Unionville Country Club Sunday at 1 p.m.
