Alumni Achievement: Grand River Tech Students Advance to Nationals

Congratulations to Ryan R and Trace E! Ryan and Trace are 2018 PCHS graduates and attend Grand River Technical School in Chillicothe, Missouri. They recently won 1st place at District competition and won 1st place at State in fabrications. They serve on the Grand Rivers Post-High Fabrications Team. Ryan and Trace both enjoyed hands-on learning while participating in our building trades classes at Putnam.

Congratulations on your successes and best of luck to you at national competition!

The Skills USA Championships are competitive events showcasing the best career and technical education students in the nation. Contests begin locally and continue through the state and national levels.

Through an investment from business and industry partners of approximately $36 million, the event occupies a space equivalent to 20 football fields. In 2018, there were more than 6,500 contestants in 103 separate events. Nearly 2,000 judges and contest organizers from labor and management make the national event possible.

The philosophy of the Championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers’ needs.
