In 2nd grade music, we are in the middle of our train unit. We are using songs like “Engine, Engine” to teach us the difference between beat and rhythm, and solfege pitches sol and mi. The song “New River Train” is teaching us about whole notes and verse/refrain form. Next, we will start on “Get on Board” to learn D.C. al Fine, a fermata, and some history about spirituals. We will finish up our train unit with “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” to learn about tempo.
